Advanced Placement U.S. History Class for Home-Schooled High Schoolers
Welcome to the portal website of the 2012-2013 Advanced Placement US History course offered online for homeschoolers* across the country and around the world. This is a unique opportunity for college-bound high school students to take a College-Board approved, quality online course delivered by an experienced college professor, former high school teacher, homeschooling parent, College Board-trained AP reader, and enthusiastic lover of history. Please explore this website, and the related course website at www.questcourses.com to find out more about how this course will be structured, what its goals and strategies are, what the tuition is, and how to go about applying and joining this course. I welcome your questions and comments. If you have any questions or would like to receive an application for the course, you can email me at lisa@questcourses.com.
Find out more about why you should consider an online AP course for your child by clicking on the Why Online AP tab above.
If you’d like to read more about me, click on the appropriately-named About tab above.
Finally, if you want more detailed info about this course, click on Course Info.
There are very few interactive online AP courses that uses a variety of approaches available for homeschooled students (or non-homeschooled – see note), so if you are interested, please sign up soon! There is a tuition discount for homeschooled students who enroll and pay the tuition by June 30, 2012. Payment for homeschooled students who wish to take this course for full College Board-approved AP credit will be made directly to PA Homeschoolers. You can visit their website at www.pahomeschoolers.com. For students in other situations* (either students who are not homeschooled or homeschooled students who do not wish to assume all the responsibilities of taking this course for official credit), please contact me directly at lisa@questcourses.com.
*While homeschooled students who sign up for the full course for full credit receive the most benefit from regular enrollment, I have accepted students in different situations in the past, and am open to doing so in the future. If you are not a parent of a homeschooled student, but would like your child to receive a thorough preparation for the AP US History exam, or if your homeschooled student would like to take the course under more flexible arrangements without the pressure of an official grade, contact me. Under these circumstances, your student would still access all course material, all presentations, all discussions, etc., be able to submit whatever assignments for feedback desired, but not receive official grades or credit for taking an AP course. (Of course, your student can and should still take the AP exam, though!) Students who sign up this way would enroll with me directly.
